UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS

Different Needs. Different Options.

Senior living isn’t one-size-fits all. Understanding the differences between living options is an important first step toward finding the environment where someone can feel safe, supported and at home.

FINDING WHAT FITS

Understanding the Differences

Each living option offers a different combination of independence, support and environment. The right choice depends on the person, their needs and how they want to live.

01

Independent Living

Best for: Older adults who are able to live independently and want fewer responsibilities and more opportunities for connection.

What it offers: A maintenance-free lifestyle with amenities, activities, dining options and a built-in community, while preserving independence and choice.

02

Assisted Living

Best for: Someone who wants to remain as independent as possible but could benefit from additional support.

What it offers: Help with everyday activities such as bathing, dressing, medications or personal care, along with meals, activities and community life.

03

Memory Care

Best for: Individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia who need specialized support and a secure environment.

What it offers: Specialized programming, structured routines, safety measures and team members trained to support people living with memory loss.

The right level of care matters.

So does the right place to live it.

04

Private Care Homes

Best for: Someone who may be more comfortable in a smaller, residential setting rather than a larger senior community.

What it offers: A home-like environment with personalized assistance, fewer residents and a more intimate approach to daily care.

MORE THAN A LEVEL OF CARE

Two People Can Need the Same Care and Need Completely Different Places.

Level of care helps us understand what support someone needs. But it doesn't tell us where they will feel most comfortable, connected or at home.

That's why finding the right place means looking beyond care needs. We consider the whole person: their lifestyle, personality, preferences, spiritual needs, family, location, environment and budget.

The question isn't only, “What care do they need?”
It's also, “Where will they feel most at home?”

Independent Living or Assisted Living?

Understand when independence may still be the right fit and when additional support could help.

Not Sure Which Option Is Right?

Most families don't begin this process knowing exactly what type of living environment their loved one needs. You may simply know that something needs to change. We can help you understand the differences, think through what is happening today and consider what may be needed in the future.
